Jam is a beloved treat often enjoyed with tea. Each fruit brings its own distinctive aroma and flavour, adding a unique touch to every jam recipe. Sometimes, unusual recipes made with everyday ingredients can also bring something new to the table. So, how about stepping away from classic choices this time and exploring some new flavours? We’ve brought together three unique jam recipes that you can prepare using ingredients available at “Araz”. Let’s explore these interesting flavour combinations together!

Tomato Jam

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 kg tomatoes
  • 1.25 kg sugar
  • 1.25 cups water
  • Juice of ½ a lemon
  • 3–4 cloves

Preparation:
Wash the tomatoes, peel them, and cut them into large pieces. Add the sugar and water to a saucepan and prepare a syrup, stirring until the sugar has completely dissolved. Add the tomatoes to the syrup and begin cooking over medium heat. Add the cloves and continue cooking until the jam thickens. Finally, add the juice of half a lemon and boil for a few more minutes. Remove the finished jam from the heat, allow it to cool, and then transfer it into jars.

Kiwi Jam

Ingredients:

  • 2 kg kiwi
  • 2 kg sugar
  • 2 cups water

Preparation:
Peel the kiwi and cut it into rounds or half-rounds. Mix the sliced kiwi with the sugar and leave it for a while to release its natural juices. Then add the water and place the saucepan over the heat. Cook the mixture over medium heat until the kiwi softens and the syrup thickens. Once the jam is ready, remove it from the heat and leave it to cool.

Peanut Caramel Jam

Ingredients:

  • 200 ml cream
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 200 g peanuts
  • 50 g butter

Preparation:
Add the sugar to a saucepan and melt it over medium heat. Once the sugar turns a caramel colour, add the butter and stir. Gradually pour in the cream, continuing to stir. When the mixture becomes smooth, add the peanuts and cook everything together for a few more minutes. Remove the mixture from the heat and allow it to cool before serving.

The Aroma of Jam Is Just as Important as Its Taste

The flavour of jam depends on more than just the ingredients used. Additions such as cloves, cinnamon, vanilla and lemon can enhance its aroma and transform its overall flavour. That is why jam made from the same fruit can offer a completely different taste experience when paired with different spices.
